Alexa+ Launch Faces Delays and Limitations Despite March Deadline

Amazon has unveiled the much-anticipated Alexa+ upgrade, promising an enhanced experience by the end of March. However, reports suggest that the service falls short of delivering all the features showcased in Amazon's promotional events. Key functionalities demonstrated earlier this year remain unavailable or restricted to select users, highlighting ongoing challenges with the AI infrastructure underpinning the platform.

According to recent findings, Alexa+ does not yet support several advanced AI-driven capabilities presented during a media event in February. These include arranging food deliveries through Grubhub, creating interactive stories for children, recognizing individuals visually, and suggesting personalized gift ideas. Such omissions indicate a gap between what was promised and what is currently delivered.

Moreover, certain features are being introduced gradually, available only to a limited audience initially. For instance, options such as booking rides via Uber or receiving tailored cooking advice are not universally accessible yet. Additionally, the web application announced last month for Alexa+ lacks a definitive launch timeline, further complicating user expectations.

The difficulties surrounding Alexa+ stem from foundational issues within its artificial intelligence framework. As reported, these hurdles have persisted since the project's inception, casting doubt on whether Amazon can fully deliver on its ambitious promises anytime soon.

While Alexa+ represents a step forward, it appears that Amazon still faces significant obstacles in perfecting the technology. Users may need to exercise patience as the company continues refining its offerings to align more closely with initial demonstrations and public expectations.
