Arch Re, the worldwide reinsurance arm of the Arch Capital group, has recently fortified its Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) division with pivotal leadership changes. Christian Roberts has been elevated to the position of Head of ILS, marking a significant internal advancement. Concurrently, the firm has welcomed Cyril Neyme as a new ILS Portfolio Manager. Both strategic appointments were finalized in July, underscoring Arch Re's ongoing expansion and dedication to the evolving ILS landscape.
Arch Re Strengthens ILS Leadership with Roberts' Promotion and Neyme's Appointment
In July of this year, Arch Re, the global reinsurance arm of Arch Capital Group, announced key personnel changes poised to enhance its Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) unit. Christian Roberts, who initially joined Arch Re in Bermuda in 2024 as an ILS Portfolio Manager, has been promoted to the newly created role of Head of ILS within the reinsurance division. His responsibilities previously included developing and managing portfolios of reinsurance-related risks structured for third-party investor capital.
Roberts' promotion followed the advancement of his former direct manager, Allan Voltz, who transitioned to lead Arch's US mortgage insurance division. With a career spanning over eight years in leading ILS investment management firms, including Securis Investment Partners and Aeolus Capital Management, Roberts brings a wealth of experience. He began his career in reinsurance as a trainee broker at Guy Carpenter.
Concurrently with Roberts' elevation, Arch Re strategically recruited Cyril Neyme as an ILS Portfolio Manager. Neyme joined in July and has relocated to Bermuda. He brings over twelve years of experience from reinsurer SCOR, where he held various roles, most recently as SVP and Head of North America Reinsurance, Alternative Solutions in New York. Prior to SCOR, Neyme worked as an actuary for several consultancies. Both appointments are currently subject to necessary immigration approvals in Bermuda.
These organizational enhancements underscore Arch Re's growing influence in the ILS market. Recent reports, such as Eaton Vance's allocations to Arch Capital's Voussoir Re Ltd. structure within its multi-asset strategy funds, further highlight the firm's expanding ILS business. Additionally, Arch Re recently promoted Bryan Lynch to Head of ILS Experience and Operations, signaling a comprehensive effort to bolster its ILS capabilities and operational efficiency.
The strategic appointments of Christian Roberts and Cyril Neyme at Arch Re reflect a growing trend within the reinsurance industry: the increasing importance of specialized expertise in the Insurance-Linked Securities sector. This move signals Arch Re's proactive approach to navigating the complexities of third-party capital management and risk transfer. For the broader market, it highlights the continued demand for seasoned professionals who can innovate and manage sophisticated financial products. This strategic strengthening of talent suggests a promising trajectory for Arch Re's ILS activities and underscores the competitive nature of attracting top-tier talent in this niche, yet rapidly expanding, financial domain.
