Chunghwa Telecom has showcased an impressive financial performance in the second quarter of 2026, marking its highest quarterly revenue since 2010. This robust growth is primarily fueled by a surge in its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) division, widespread adoption of 5G technology, and successful expansion into international markets. The company's strategic focus on the 'AAA Hub' initiative, which integrates advanced network infrastructure and distributed AI data centers, underscores its commitment to innovation and maintaining a leading position in the evolving telecommunications landscape.

During the second quarter of 2026, Chunghwa Telecom achieved consolidated revenue of TWD 61.36 billion, an 8.2% increase year-over-year. Net income climbed to TWD 11.27 billion, representing a 6.2% growth, while earnings per share (EPS) reached TWD 1.38, a decade-high for the quarter. The company's operating income also saw a 5.7% rise to TWD 13.26 billion, driven by expanding core telecom services and high-margin contributions. Furthermore, EBITDA increased by 4.1% to TWD 23.52 billion, maintaining a healthy margin of 38.3%.

Chunghwa Telecom's mobile business demonstrated strong market leadership, with a revenue market share of 41.2% and a subscriber share of 39.8%. The penetration of 5G among smartphone users reached nearly 49%, and the 5G market share stood at 39.4%. Notably, the average monthly fee uplift from 5G migration remained stable at 36%, showcasing strong customer loyalty with a low postpaid churn rate of 0.36%. Roaming revenue experienced a 19% year-over-year increase, with inbound roaming revenue soaring by 42% due to heightened tourism and international travel. The fixed broadband sector also saw growth, with revenue increasing by 3% and average revenue per user (ARPU) rising to TWD 824 per month, largely driven by subscribers upgrading to higher-speed plans, particularly those adopting speeds of 300 megabits per second and above.

The ICT business proved to be a significant growth engine, recording a 32% increase in revenue year-over-year. This was propelled by the success of emerging services such as Big Data (up 167%), Cybersecurity (up 34%), and IDC (up 14%). International subsidiaries contributed substantially, with an aggregate revenue increase of 242%, primarily from AI supply chain projects in the United States and construction initiatives in Singapore and Vietnam. The United States operations alone saw an over 11-fold increase in revenue, driven by large-scale AI supply chain projects in Texas. The company also secured robust ICT order intake, with first-half contract values matching the entirety of 2025's performance, indicating a strong pipeline for future recurring revenues.

In addition to financial achievements, Chunghwa Telecom continued its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, reporting a 24.5% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions relative to its 2020 baseline, aligning with its SBTi commitments. The launch of its new 36-megawatt AI data center in Lunping and the memorandum of understanding with Taiwan Stock Exchange for a new AI data center in Taichung further solidify its position in the AI infrastructure market. The company also introduced the Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) AI Fund to foster an optical ecosystem vital for AI development, integrating advanced photonics technology into its network infrastructure to support distributed AI computing resources across the Asia Pacific.

Chunghwa Telecom's second quarter 2026 results reflect a period of dynamic expansion and strategic foresight. The company's diversified growth across mobile, fixed broadband, and especially ICT services, combined with its robust international ventures and sustained commitment to ESG principles, establishes a strong foundation for continued success and market leadership. The focus on AI infrastructure and advanced network technologies, such as the AAA Hub and IOWN, positions Chunghwa Telecom at the forefront of digital transformation.
