The revised forecast now calls for 16 named storms, with 8 developing into hurricanes and 3 reaching major hurricane status (Category 3 or higher). The Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) index, a metric reflecting the total energy of tropical cyclones, has also been adjusted downward to 140.
