Google Photos, known for its extensive suite of artificial intelligence-powered functionalities aimed at refining visual content, is expanding its capabilities with the introduction of a new feature named "Moods." This latest addition enables users to effortlessly infuse their photographs with a vintage aesthetic through a variety of AI-driven color adjustments and filters.
The concept of "Moods" was first glimpsed in June and is now gradually becoming accessible to a select group of users. Positioned within the application's "Create" tab, similar to other AI-enhanced tools, "Moods" offers quick color alterations. The feature's design, featuring an icon reminiscent of an analog camera film, underscores its commitment to film-like visual styles, tapping into a growing trend for retro aesthetics on platforms like TikTok. Users can also explore filters that evoke the distinct digital camera vibe of the early 2000s. Early users, including Artem Russakovskii, founder of APKMirror, have shared screenshots showcasing the diverse range of editing presets and the ability to adjust the intensity of these filters.
Among the eight distinct presets offered by "Moods" are options like "Airy Minimalist," which provides clean lighting and a minimalist look; "Crisp 35mm," inspired by classic film photography; "2000's Cinema," offering movie-like color grading; "Rich Textures," enhancing depth and detail; "Pink Digicam," for a nostalgic digital camera feel with a pink tint; "Retro Contrast," featuring strong shadows and bold colors; "Night Lights," designed for evening scenes; and "2000's Night," combining deep nightlife colors with digital grain. Shimrit Ben-Yair, VP of Google Photos, has confirmed that "Moods" will be rolled out globally to all users, with an initial release on Android devices followed by availability on iOS.
