Hiscox Capital Partners, the dedicated unit of Hiscox Re focused on overseeing third-party capital for insurance-linked securities (ILS) investments and quota-share collaborations, recently welcomed Michel Dang as its newest Portfolio Manager.
Michel Dang Joins Hiscox Capital Partners as Portfolio Manager
In a strategic move bolstering its leadership team, Hiscox Capital Partners has announced the appointment of Michel Dang as a Portfolio Manager, effective this month. Dang brings a wealth of experience to the London-based division, which was established in February 2026 by Hiscox Re, the reinsurance arm of Hiscox Group. The formation of Hiscox Capital Partners aimed to centralize the firm's nearly two decades of capital partnership endeavors, encompassing both third-party capital and ILS activities.
Before joining Hiscox Capital Partners, Dang served as an Investment Analyst at SCOR Investment Partners, the asset management subsidiary of the French reinsurance conglomerate, where he specialized in managing insurance-linked securities funds. His tenure at SCOR Investment Partners commenced after the firm's acquisition of Coriolis Capital Limited, an ILS asset manager, in late 2019. During his time at Coriolis Capital, starting in 2018, and subsequently at SCOR Investment Partners, Dang honed considerable expertise in portfolio management and analytics within the dynamic ILS marketplace.
Prior to his immersion in the ILS sector, Dang contributed his skills as a Financial Modeler at Dar Al-Handasah (Shair and Partners), a consultancy firm, from 2016 to 2018. In this role, he was instrumental in developing and implementing financial models and tools for various investment, securitization, bidding, pricing, and evaluation activities across diverse projects and services. Earlier in his career, Dang gained foundational experience as an Intern Analyst at BNP Paribas Investment Partners, which later evolved into BNP Paribas Asset Management.
This appointment follows a period of notable expansion for Hiscox Capital Partners, which reported a significant increase in its overall ILS assets under management (AUM), reaching $2.9 billion as of July 1st, 2026. Hiscox Capital Partners is recognized as a key player among specialized managers of catastrophe bond and ILS funds.
The addition of Michel Dang to Hiscox Capital Partners is a clear signal of the firm's continued commitment to attracting top talent and reinforcing its capabilities in the complex and evolving ILS market. His extensive background in investment analysis and portfolio management within the insurance-linked securities space positions him as a valuable asset to the team, further enhancing the division's ability to manage third-party capital and foster strategic partnerships. This move reflects the broader trend of leading reinsurance entities strengthening their ILS operations to meet growing investor demand and capitalize on market opportunities.
