Over the next three years, Hyundai intends to channel $21 billion into expanding its operations within the United States. This investment will cover a broad spectrum of activities, from boosting manufacturing capabilities and advancing cutting-edge technologies to improving energy infrastructure. The plan involves allocating $9 billion for increasing vehicle production to 1.2 million units annually, $6 billion for enhancing parts, logistics, and steel businesses, and another $6 billion towards fostering future industries and external collaborations, including electric vehicle (EV) charging networks. Since entering the U.S. market in 1986, Hyundai has already invested $20.5 billion, demonstrating its commitment to strengthening American industrial leadership.

This substantial financial commitment aims to bolster Hyundai's presence across multiple sectors. By investing heavily in vehicle production, Hyundai seeks to enhance the output of its Hyundai Motor, Kia, and Genesis brands. Improvements will also be made to existing facilities, such as those located in Alabama and Georgia, ensuring that these sites remain at the forefront of automotive manufacturing excellence. Furthermore, Hyundai's focus on expanding localized components like EV battery packs underscores its dedication to securing robust supply chains while promoting sustainability.

In addition to manufacturing enhancements, Hyundai plans to revolutionize its logistics operations by investing in steel production within the U.S. A notable project includes constructing an Electric Arc Furnace steel mill in Louisiana with the capacity to produce 2.7 million tons of low-carbon steel annually. This initiative not only addresses environmental concerns but also enhances Hyundai's adaptability in facing external challenges.

Driving innovation remains central to Hyundai's strategy. To this end, the company is earmarking $6 billion specifically for partnerships in autonomous driving, robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced air mobility ventures. Collaborations with firms like Boston Dynamics, Nvidia, Supernal, Waymo, and Aptiv highlight Hyundai's proactive approach in shaping the future of mobility. These alliances aim to develop mass-production systems for robotics, accelerate AI technology development, commercialize eVTOL vehicles, supply robotaxis, and co-develop autonomous driving services.

Finally, Hyundai is committed to sustainable energy solutions through a $6 billion investment in energy infrastructure. This encompasses partnerships with companies like Holtec International for Small Modular Reactor technology, building infrastructure to support renewable energy adoption, and expanding EV charging networks via the IONNA alliance. These efforts align with Hyundai's vision of contributing positively to both economic growth and environmental stewardship.

Hyundai's comprehensive investment plan signifies a pivotal moment in its relationship with the U.S. market. By integrating advanced technology, sustainable practices, and strategic partnerships, Hyundai positions itself as a leader in transforming the automotive industry. This forward-thinking approach promises significant benefits for Hyundai, its workforce, and the broader American economy.
