Miller's Unyielding Path: From Undrafted to NBA Deal
Miller's Progression Through the G League and International Competition
Isaiah Miller, a 27-year-old guard, has officially signed with the San Antonio Spurs. His path to the NBA has been marked by determination, beginning after he went undrafted in 2021. Miller honed his skills in the G League, starting with the Iowa Wolves as an affiliate player following a brief period with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He then spent two productive seasons with the Salt Lake City Stars, where he consistently improved his offensive and defensive contributions.
Triumphs Abroad and Return to US Basketball
In 2024, Miller expanded his professional experience by playing overseas with APR in the Rwanda Basketball League. His impact was immediate and substantial; he scored 43 points in the Rwanda Basketball Cup final and was recognized as the RBL Finals MVP, leading APR to a league championship in September. This successful international chapter showcased his ability to perform at a high level and adapt to new environments.
A Second Chance with the Spurs Organization
Following his achievements abroad, Miller returned to the United States and initially signed with San Antonio in October 2024. Although he was subsequently waived two days later, he was assigned to the Austin Spurs, the team's G League affiliate. His strong performance during the 2024–25 season with the Austin Spurs, where he averaged 14.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 15 games, underscored his athletic prowess and all-around game, even though his season was cut short by a torn right ACL in February.
San Antonio Spurs' Transformative Offseason
Miller joins a San Antonio Spurs team undergoing significant changes for the 2025–26 season. Legendary head coach Gregg Popovich retired in May after 29 years at the helm, with Mitch Johnson stepping in to take over coaching duties. The team has also brought in promising young talent through the draft, including Dylan Harper, Carter Bryant, and Kam Jones, who are expected to complement existing stars like Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle, signaling a new era for the franchise.
