Basketball talent Isaiah Wong is embarking on a new phase of his professional journey, transitioning to Gran Canaria, a prominent Spanish basketball club. This strategic move sees him depart from Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania, following a period where he explored opportunities within both the NBA and the EuroLeague. Wong's career progression reflects a player determined to carve out a significant role in the demanding world of professional basketball, leveraging diverse experiences across continents.

Selected as the 55th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Isaiah Wong initially entered the professional ranks with the Indiana Pacers under a two-way contract. Subsequently, he held a similar agreement with the Charlotte Hornets during a portion of the 2024–25 season. While his NBA court time was limited to just one appearance for Indiana, he saw more significant action with Charlotte, participating in 20 games.

During his tenure with the Charlotte Hornets, Wong averaged 6.0 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists over approximately 13 minutes per contest. His performance highlighted a promising ability from long range, converting 39.4% of his three-point attempts. However, he faced challenges with his two-point shooting efficiency, registering 38.9% from the field on such attempts.

Wong's capabilities were more fully displayed in the G League, where he split his time between the Salt Lake City Stars and the Greensboro Swarm. Across 14 games, he showcased a more comprehensive game, averaging an impressive 20.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. His shooting efficiency was notable, hitting 45.4% from the field overall, including 38.8% from beyond the arc and 80.4% from the free-throw line.

Following his release by the Hornets in February, Wong made the transition to European basketball, joining Zalgiris Kaunas for the remainder of their season. This experience offered him valuable exposure to the highly competitive environment of the EuroLeague, further honing his skills against top-tier European talent.

Now, with Gran Canaria, Wong is expected to contribute his scoring prowess and adaptable play to their backcourt. The Spanish club concluded the previous Liga ACB season with a 19–15 record, securing the seventh seed before being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by Valencia Basket. Wong's arrival is anticipated to strengthen the team, potentially aiding them in achieving a more successful postseason run in the upcoming season.

Isaiah Wong's decision to join Gran Canaria signifies a strategic step in his basketball journey, aiming to integrate his dynamic playmaking and scoring ability into a competitive European league. His extensive experience, ranging from the NBA and G League to the EuroLeague, positions him as a valuable asset for Gran Canaria as they seek to elevate their performance in the Liga ACB and beyond.
