Jordan Loyd's standout performance leading Poland to the EuroBasket 2025 quarterfinals has placed him firmly on the radar of elite EuroLeague teams, with Real Madrid emerging as a strong contender for his signature.
Basketball Star Jordan Loyd Eyed by Real Madrid Following EuroBasket Showcase
In September 2025, during the EuroBasket 2025 tournament, guard Jordan Loyd was instrumental in guiding the Polish national team to the quarterfinal stage, distinguishing himself as one of the competition's most impactful players. His remarkable display ignited considerable interest from several prominent EuroLeague basketball clubs.
Although Loyd currently remains under contract with Monaco, a significant European club, any potential move would necessitate their agreement to release him. This situation is further complicated by Monaco's recent roster adjustments, including the addition of David Michineau and veteran Nemanja Nedovic, which has bolstered their backcourt depth.
Reports from Marca indicate that the Spanish basketball powerhouse, Real Madrid, has already initiated contact with Loyd. A provisional agreement is believed to be in place, contingent upon Monaco granting his release. Adding another layer to the intricate transfer landscape, Valencia possesses Loyd's 'tanteo' rights within the Spanish league, affording them the opportunity to match any offer extended by Real Madrid.
Following Poland's quarterfinal match against Turkey, when directly questioned about a potential transfer, Loyd chose to remain guarded, simply stating, 'No comment.' It is worth noting that Loyd has a previous working relationship with Real Madrid's coach, Sergio Scariolo, having played under him during the Toronto Raptors' victorious NBA championship season. This prior connection could serve as a crucial factor influencing a potential move to the Spanish capital.
This situation underscores the dynamic nature of professional basketball transfers, where player performance on the international stage can significantly alter career trajectories. Loyd's EuroBasket success exemplifies how individual brilliance can attract the attention of top-tier clubs, creating complex negotiations involving current contracts, team strategies, and past relationships. The unfolding saga will be a testament to how these varied elements coalesce in the competitive world of European basketball.
