The New York Knicks have officially secured the services of free agent forward Tosan Evbuomwan, a move set to enhance the team's depth. This acquisition, initially reported by NBA insider Michael Scotto and later confirmed by Evbuomwan's representative, George S. Langberg of GSL Sports Group, marks another strategic step for the Knicks as they fine-tune their roster.
Evbuomwan's prior season saw him participate in 28 contests with the Brooklyn Nets during the 2024-25 campaign. Across these appearances, he maintained an average of 9.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists, accumulating these statistics over approximately 23.8 minutes per game. A standout moment for the British-born forward occurred on January 12, where he delivered a career-high performance against the Utah Jazz, tallying 22 points, five rebounds, and an assist. Despite his promising displays, the Nets released him on August 29.
Before joining the Nets, Evbuomwan's journey in the 2024-25 season began with the Los Angeles Clippers, where he briefly signed an Exhibit 10 contract in October before being waived the same day. He then moved to the San Diego Clippers in the G League, eventually securing a two-way agreement with Brooklyn in January. His career NBA statistics, spanning 45 games, show averages of 8.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists, with a shooting efficiency of 44.7 percent from the field.
For the New York Knicks, integrating Evbuomwan introduces a flexible asset to both their wing and frontcourt options. The team is actively constructing a more robust squad under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Mike Brown, preparing meticulously for the 2025-26 season. This offseason has seen the franchise undertake several strategic changes, including the drafting of Mohamed Diawara.
Evbuomwan now joins a formidable roster that boasts prominent players such as Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Karl-Anthony Towns. His addition is expected to provide valuable rotation support and contribute to the team's overall strategic objectives as they aim for a competitive season.
