Experience New Bordeaux Like Never Before: Mafia III's Next-Gen Evolution
Unveiling the Performance Boost for Current-Gen Consoles
In a surprising move, 2K Games rolled out a complimentary update for Mafia III, immediately elevating the game's performance to a crisp 60 frames per second on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This unannounced enhancement allows existing owners of the PS4 or Xbox One versions to seamlessly upgrade their experience on newer hardware via their respective console stores, marking a substantial improvement over the original 30fps target.
The Definitive Edition: A Complete Narrative Journey
Accompanying the performance upgrade is the launch of Mafia III: Definitive Edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This comprehensive bundle integrates the core game with its three major narrative expansions—Faster, Baby!, Stones Unturned, and Sign of the Times. Furthermore, it includes the Family Kick-Back Pack and the Judge, Jury & Executioner Weapons Pack, ensuring a complete and enriched storyline for players.
The Omerta Collection: A Saga Across Generations
The Definitive Edition is also a key component of Mafia: The Omerta Collection, a recently introduced compilation encompassing the entire mainline Mafia series. This collection unites Mafia III with Mafia, Mafia II, and the recent Mafia: The Old Country, offering an expansive journey through the crime-ridden narratives. Hangar 13, the studio behind Mafia III, has been instrumental in developing every installment since the third title, including the 2020 Definitive Edition remake of the original 2002 game.
Enhancements for PC Players and Special Offers
The anniversary celebration extends to PC players as well, with the Steam version of Mafia III receiving a substantial patch. This update introduces a wide array of fixes, technical improvements, and quality-of-life adjustments. To commemorate these updates, new players can acquire Mafia III at an 80% discount across various digital storefronts, though the duration of this promotional offer has not been specified by 2K.
