Actress Rebel Wilson has weighed in on the recent separation of fellow Australian actress Isla Fisher from her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen. Wilson indicated that she doesn't perceive the timing of Fisher's divorce announcement, which occurred in April 2024, as mere chance, particularly given that it closely followed her own public accusations against Baron Cohen. She expressed solidarity with Fisher, commending her professional abilities and extending good wishes for her future endeavors following the dissolution of her marriage. Baron Cohen, however, has vehemently refuted Wilson's allegations regarding his conduct during the production of their 2016 film, 'Grimsby'.

The entertainment world was first stirred in March 2024 when Rebel Wilson disclosed that a segment of her autobiography, 'Rebel Rising', was dedicated to what she termed the 'a******' Sacha Baron Cohen. The two had collaborated on the film 'Grimsby', where Baron Cohen portrayed a character named Nobby, a boorish football enthusiast with a large family, while Wilson played his partner, Dawn. In her published work, Wilson accused the actor, renowned for his role as Borat, of engaging in bullying and harassing behavior on the movie set.

During a recent appearance on Samantha Armytage's program, 'Act Two', Wilson conveyed her lack of surprise regarding Fisher's split from Baron Cohen. The couple had been married from 2010 until their divorce was finalized in 2024, with their separation becoming public just a week after Wilson's claims emerged. "I don't think it is coincidental that the announcement came after my book was released. I think it was probably brewing a lot," the 47-year-old actress remarked. She further added, "I just wish her well. I obviously don't know all the details about what Isla personally experienced, but I hope she is now crushing it, and finding her next act after her divorce."

Wilson also mentioned that although she has not communicated with Isla since the divorce announcement, she greatly admires Fisher's acting talent. "We haven't spoken, but she is such a talented actress. I love her in movies, she is so funny!" Wilson stated. Following Wilson's initial claims, Baron Cohen's representatives issued a statement to TMZ, contesting her allegations. They asserted that her claims were "demonstrably false" and contradicted by "extensive detailed evidence," including "contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby."

While Wilson's book was released in the United States without alteration, the controversial chapter was removed from the British edition due to specific legal considerations in England and Wales. Baron Cohen's legal team hailed this redaction as a "clear victory." Fisher and Baron Cohen jointly announced their decision to end their marriage in 2023, with the divorce finalized in June of the preceding year. Speaking to NewBeauty, Fisher reflected on the period since their separation, describing it as a "challenging time" and a "different grief." However, she also expressed enthusiasm for rebuilding her identity. "I feel like creating a new identity after your divorce is so fun, though. You get to reflect on your values and goals, explore new interests, focus on what you want and rebuild your sense of self," Fisher shared.

Rebel Wilson’s recent comments underscore the intricate web of personal and professional relationships within Hollywood, particularly when public accusations intersect with private lives. Her assertion that Isla Fisher’s divorce was not a mere coincidence, coupled with Baron Cohen’s strong denials, adds another layer to the ongoing narrative surrounding the actors. This situation highlights the public scrutiny celebrities face and the ripple effects of their actions and statements on those around them, demonstrating how career milestones and personal upheavals often become intertwined in the public eye.
