A trailblazing firm in the industrial robotics sector, Xaba has secured an additional $6 million in seed funding to further enhance its open AI industrial automation system. This latest round of investment, led by Hitachi and supported by Hazelview Ventures, BDC Capital, Exposition Ventures, and Impact Venture Capital, brings the company's total funding to $8 million. Founded by Massimiliano Moruzzi, a former Boeing engineer, Xaba aims to streamline industrial automation by replacing manual coding with generative artificial intelligence. Its core product, xCognition, empowers machines to autonomously adapt and perform tasks without human intervention.
Xaba's innovative platform, xCognition, is designed to revolutionize how industrial robots function. Instead of relying on traditional methods that involve extensive manual programming, users can now input their desired automation objectives using simple written commands. The platform then automatically generates the necessary code, enabling machines to operate independently. According to Xaba, this technology mirrors what OpenAI has achieved for language processing but applies it to industrial equipment such as robots, cranes, conveyors, and entire production lines. The company asserts that its AI system not only facilitates self-programming and real-time learning but also reduces deployment time significantly—up to 80% in some cases.
Massimiliano Moruzzi emphasizes the transformative potential of Xaba's technology, stating that conventional robotic systems are often inefficient due to their reliance on complex programming and constant human oversight. In contrast, Xaba's approach allows machines to optimize themselves and handle intricate tasks with minimal programming. Industries benefiting from this innovation include automotive, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing, where applications range from robotic welding and drilling to large-scale 3D printing.
Gayathri Radhakrishnan, Partner at Hitachi Ventures, highlights the significance of Xaba's contributions to Industry 4.0. Despite promises of intelligent factories, progress has been hindered by outdated infrastructure and rigid coding requirements. Xaba addresses these challenges by equipping industrial machinery with the ability to learn and program itself through generative AI, thus making smart manufacturing a scalable reality.
With this new influx of capital, Xaba is poised to expand its reach and capabilities, driving forward the evolution of autonomous industrial systems. By eliminating the barriers associated with traditional programming methods, the company is paving the way for a future where machines can operate more efficiently and intelligently, reshaping the landscape of modern manufacturing.
