The Toronto Raptors have secured center Colin Castleton with a new two-year standard NBA contract, solidifying his presence on the team for the upcoming 2024–25 season. This agreement follows an impressive showing by the 25-year-old, who initially joined the Raptors on a 10-day deal in March before rejoining them in April after a brief stint elsewhere. His consistent contributions on the court have clearly demonstrated his value to the franchise, prompting this longer-term commitment. This strategic move aims to strengthen the team's roster with a promising young talent.

Colin Castleton's journey to this contract extension has been characterized by perseverance and strong on-court performance. After signing his initial 10-day contract in March, he briefly moved to the Philadelphia 76ers before the Raptors brought him back on April 12. During his time with Toronto, Castleton consistently averaged 7.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists across 11 games. Notably, he started four of these games, playing an average of 26.2 minutes per contest and maintaining a 50% field goal percentage. His standout performance occurred on April 7 against the Washington Wizards, where he recorded an impressive 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Castleton's path to the NBA has been circuitous, starting with a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers in July 2023. He split his time between the Lakers and their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, even contributing to the Lakers' victory in the inaugural In-Season Tournament. Following his waiver by the Lakers in October, he continued to hone his skills in the G League with the Osceola Magic and Memphis Hustle before making his way back to the NBA. Throughout his G League appearances this season, Castleton posted robust averages of 17.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 3.0 assists over 28 games.

Despite being waived by the Raptors shortly after the conclusion of the season, the team quickly re-evaluated and decided to bring him back on a multi-year deal, underscoring their confidence in his potential. Castleton, who went undrafted out of Florida in 2023, has now participated in 42 NBA games in total, averaging 3.5 points and 3.2 rebounds in 11.7 minutes per game. His re-signing signifies the Raptors' belief in his ongoing development and his ability to contribute significantly to their future endeavors.

The Toronto Raptors' decision to ink Colin Castleton to a multi-year contract reflects a strategic investment in emerging talent. His demonstrated capability and versatility on the court, particularly during his recent appearances, have evidently convinced the team of his long-term potential. This move ensures a stable presence at the center position and provides Castleton with a significant opportunity to further establish himself in the league.
