The final field trip of the academic year became an unforgettable journey for 46 sixth-grade students from Carlson Elementary, King-Murphy, and Georgetown Community Schools. On May 20, these young adventurers set out on a bus bound for the Angel of Shavano Group Campground near Salida, Colorado. Funded entirely by the Mountain Youth Network (MYN), the three-day retreat offered an unparalleled chance for students to engage with one another in a natural setting, free from distractions.

According to MYN Youth Programs Coordinator Lucy Perez, the primary objective was to unite students from Carlson, Georgetown, and King-Murphy Schools, who would soon converge at Clear Creek Middle School in Evergreen.
