Viemed Healthcare has announced exceptional financial outcomes for the second quarter of 2026, marking new highs in both quarterly revenue and patient engagement. This notable achievement is largely attributed to organic expansion within its core ventilation services, complemented by substantial advancements in sleep therapy and maternal health sectors. The company has proactively restructured its sales operations and adopted innovative technological solutions to boost operational effectiveness and elevate the standard of patient care. These strategic initiatives are designed to lay a solid foundation for continuous growth, even as the company navigates a temporary decrease in adjusted EBITDA margins, influenced by one-off gains from the previous year and expenses related to integration.

Strategic Growth and Operational Enhancements

Viemed Healthcare recorded an impressive $78.1 million in revenue for the second quarter of 2026, reflecting a 24% increase from the previous year and a 4% sequential rise. This growth is predominantly driven by a record number of ventilator patients, now totaling 12,635, alongside considerable expansion in sleep therapy and maternal health services. The company's ventilator rental revenue reached $36.4 million, an 8% increase, while equipment sales nearly doubled to $19 million, bolstered by growth in sleep resupply and maternal health. To support this trajectory, Viemed established a fourth sales division to facilitate geographical expansion and leadership development. Furthermore, the implementation of advanced workflow technologies, such as the Tenor intake system, has dramatically shortened patient qualification times for PAP orders from several days to under an hour, significantly enhancing efficiency and patient onboarding.

The company's commitment to strategic investments is evident in its efforts to enhance sales organization and internal capabilities. This includes refining leadership roles, expanding market coverage, and providing additional clinical support. The focus on a robust training program has enabled new representatives to become proficient more rapidly. The emphasis on patient compliance, especially from respiratory therapists (RTs), has improved patient retention and prolonged therapy adherence. While these investments temporarily impacted the adjusted EBITDA margin—which stood at 17.6% compared to 22.7% in the prior year, partly due to a $1.2 million swing from equipment disposal activities and integration costs—management views this as a necessary step for long-term scalability and diversification. The company’s revenue mix is evolving towards less capital-intensive product and service lines, promising a different margin and capital profile in the future. Despite these short-term pressures, Viemed raised its full-year revenue guidance to $314 million to $320 million and lowered its net capital expenditure guidance to between 8.5% and 10% of revenue, affirming confidence in its strategic direction and financial health.

Financial Performance and Future Outlook

Viemed Healthcare’s second-quarter financial results underscore a period of significant expansion and strategic repositioning. Total revenue grew to $78.1 million, with ventilator rental revenue contributing $36.4 million. Other rental revenue increased by 19% to $16.4 million, and equipment sales saw a near doubling to $19 million, propelled by sleep resupply and maternal health. Service revenue also climbed by 7% to $6.3 million. The shift in revenue mix, with rental revenue comprising 68% of the total compared to 76% a year ago, highlights the rapid growth in less capital-intensive areas like resupply and maternal health, which generally carry lower adjusted EBITDA margins but require substantially less capital investment. Gross profit for the quarter was $45 million, representing 57.7% of revenue, a slight decrease from 58.3% in the previous year, influenced by revenue mix and temporary distribution costs in maternal health.

Adjusted EBITDA was reported at $13.7 million, with a margin of 17.6%, down from 22.7% in the prior year. This reduction was primarily attributed to a $1.2 million impact from equipment disposal activities in the previous year and increased selling, general, and administrative (SG&A) expenses due to investments in technology, talent, and operational capacity. However, operating cash flow for the quarter was strong at $15.9 million, and free cash flow reached $8.6 million. The company repaid $2.2 million in debt and repurchased 531,000 shares for $5.1 million, ending the quarter with $10.7 million in cash, exceeding its total debt. Looking ahead, Viemed has updated its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $314 million to $320 million, raising the lower end of the previous range. The adjusted EBITDA guidance was revised to $64 million to $68 million, and net capital expenditure guidance was lowered to 8.5% to 10% of revenue, reflecting the growing contribution from less capital-intensive services. This strategic adjustment aims to maintain an adjusted EBITDA margin of at least 20% for the full year, while generating solid free cash flow and supporting continued business growth, reinforcing Viemed's strong financial foundation and capacity for future expansion.
