When Twin emerged from its secretive development phase in early 2024, the notion of artificial intelligence (AI) agents seemed more like a futuristic idea than an attainable reality. Fast forward to today, and this Paris-based innovator has unveiled its latest automation marvel in collaboration with Qonto—a leading fintech company providing business banking solutions to over half a million clients across Europe. This partnership marks a significant leap forward in automating mundane yet essential tasks through cutting-edge technology.

Unleashing Efficiency Through Cutting-Edge Technology

The world of automation is evolving rapidly, and businesses are exploring various tools to streamline their operations. From API-driven platforms like Zapier to robotic process automation (RPA) software such as UiPath, companies have multiple avenues for addressing repetitive processes. However, Twin's approach introduces a paradigm shift by harnessing the power of AI and computational models.

A New Era of Automation Emerges

Twin’s groundbreaking solution, Invoice Operator, exemplifies why integrating artificial intelligence into automation workflows makes perfect sense. Qonto manages an astronomical volume of invoices monthly, consuming substantial hours from users tasked with gathering and uploading them. To address this challenge, Twin has developed an automated invoice retrieval system over the past three months that significantly expedites the process.Once activated, Invoice Operator identifies transactions missing invoices and presents a comprehensive list alongside a browser window displaying the agent's actions. For services requiring login credentials, the browser halts momentarily, prompting manual entry before resuming its task. Subsequently, the AI-powered tool locates past transactions, downloads corresponding invoices, and seamlessly attaches these documents to relevant entries within a user's Qonto account.Hugo Mercier, co-founder and CEO of Twin, highlights the scalability advantage during a product demonstration. "Handling the extensive range of services utilized by Qonto's vast customer base necessitates covering an incredibly lengthy tail of providers," he explains. Traditional RPA methods fall short here, as crafting individual scripts per website becomes impractical due to frequent updates requiring constant modifications.

Beyond Conventional Automation Methods

In contrast to API-centric automation platforms like Zapier, which took a decade to integrate support for 8,000 applications, Twin achieves comparable functionality in mere months. Behind the scenes, Twin employs a Chromium-based web browser operating on servers, leveraging OpenAI's CUA (computer-using agent) model. Notably, Twin was among the select few companies granted access to test CUA during its beta phase.CUA serves as the backbone for OpenAI’s Operator, empowering users to input prompts enabling agents to execute desired actions autonomously. According to Mercier, Twin focuses heavily on simplifying the user experience. "Our primary audience includes individuals who may not possess technical expertise. They needn't engage in complex configurations or prompting; simply authenticate your accounts, activate the service, and watch it navigate effortlessly to retrieve invoices," he emphasizes.

Expanding Horizons Across Industries

Beyond invoice management, Twin envisions broad applicability of AI-driven agents across diverse sectors. E-commerce enterprises could automate order handling, marketplaces might enhance catalog classification, while call centers stand to benefit from streamlined information retrieval processes. These possibilities underscore the transformative potential of AI agents capable of delivering cost-effective, swift, and precise outcomes across myriad tasks.Twin positions itself at the forefront of redefining automation paradigms, striving to develop a versatile core platform powering Invoice Operator into a resource developers can readily incorporate into their applications. As the startup continues refining its offerings, the future promises unprecedented advancements in operational efficiency fueled by intelligent automation technologies.
